What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
It's possible that you've lost your Nissan key fob or the device stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, look back to where you last saw it.
It's not a big deal to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with the key fob that came with your Nissan is an important component of the car's advanced keyless entry system. It communicates with vehicle electronics to unlock doors as well as start the engine. It also comes with an easy-to-use design, making it simple to keep in your pocket. A key fob can also provide convenience features such as an alarm that can be locked out, which ensures that you don't leave your vehicle with keys inside.
In contrast to previous models of key fobs which required you to place the key in the ignition slot to access your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys operate wirelessly. When you approach the vehicle your Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This can include opening and closing the doors, lowering or raising the tailgate, or even launching the engine.
Certain smart key models have a valet key hidden in the metal. The key can be pulled from a release on the back of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box prior to handing it over to the valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket which can be used to charge the battery even when it is not in use.

With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob you can unlock your car's doors and start its engine with the push of a button. It also allows you to activate a set of presets to meet your needs, like altering the mirrors or seat to maximize comfort. You can even control the music through your smartphone, so you'll never need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs have an antenna built-in which sends an alert to your vehicle every time you push a button or come close to it. When the vehicle receives this signal it is activated opening and locking doors, kicking off the engine, and opening the trunk. If you'd like to test out the fob, stand at a distance away from your vehicle and click the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds it means you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries in order to function. If they run out then our Parts Department can help you change it quickly and conveniently. To do this, simply remove the key that is hidden and then open the battery compartment on your key fob. Remove the battery that was in it, then place a brand new one in its place. Assure that the positive side of your new battery faces in the same direction it did with the old one. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the key to its hidden location within the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to cool or warm their vehicle from outside the vehicle, as long as they are within operating range. The ignition of the car can be activated by pressing the button on the key fob or mobile application. Remote start systems can also activate climate control to allow the driver to decide on their preferred temperature. Some systems include two-way communication, which lets the driver observe what's happening in their vehicle.
If your car's remote start feature isn't functioning, the most frequent reason is that the battery isn't working. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery that is replaceable. It lasts around two years. Change the battery is simple, but you'll be required to know the location of the hidden key on the Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
To do this, flip your fob over and press the hidden key release latch on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is fully opened remove the battery and insert a fresh one, ensuring that it is in line with the dimensions and configuration of the battery that is in use. Before closing the outer case, ensure that the hidden key is reinserted and the key fob is put back together correctly. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection stops lockouts that are caused by impedance problems. A special module inside the power control unit checks for the activity of the impedance relay and then turns off the output. This feature is available for vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system, or by using the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have happened due to a machine being started when it was supposed to be completely shut off to allow for maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually the result of stored energy that isn't properly released. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can help avoid these accidents by making sure that machines are completely off until a person authorized releases them.
The LOTO system is made up of a number of locks, tags and other devices that isolate, secure, or block a machine from an electric source. All "affected", "authorized" and "qualified" personnel must be taught about the use of these devices. These devices include, but are not restricted to chains, locks and padlocks. Each device is uniquely identified and labeled with the date and time of the application and the name of the authorized person, and the reason for the tag-out or lockout (repair, maintenance, etc). It should be clear that these devices are not able to be removed until a thorough LOTO procedure has been followed.
